He requested to be a medic with a helicopter team - he said he wanted to fly; frankly, I think he was anxious to use his medic talents to help save lives
He shared some really dangerous times, including the helicopter was shot down. They coasted for 2miles, which saved their lives from the VC
Very friendly man. He obviously didn't use drugs. The drug use was probably the main cause of suicides. He never met protesters. He was appreciated.
He was there for the Cambodian incursion, mentioned Kent State shooting.
When he returned to USA, he went to Ft. Jackson, SC - worked in the hospital a year. He took up skydiving as a release, hobby.
Dale took a lot of pictures.He was very touched by an injured orphan's expression. He submitted it to the Billings Gazette.
Emotionally, he resolved this experience as "I did my part" and he did what he wanted to do. His medic experience served as basis for his medical career.

Enlisted for OCS - had unpleasant experience with the school; opted as NCO. He trained scout handlers for 3 months (officers were sometimes killed by the unit because they were reckless as hell; and marked as KIA...I wonder why this large furniture conglomerate uses the name KIA)

My friend Lori's husband, a CW3 who was promoted to CW4 in the Kuwait war would say the same thing. Even though the largest number of casualties was FRIENDLY FIRE - the IT specialist programmed the grid for the pilot improperly and they bombed their own Division Artillery Barracks. Secretary of the Navy for 25 years? No way. They are appointed by the US President and circulate. Colin Powell was Secretary of US Army, became Chief Of Staff. He was also NSA. I bet he knows the government machine better than anyone. When Saddam Hussein's WOMD were found in 2014, Colin Powell made an announcement on PBS. My Comment on this video:. Colin Powell was Secretary of State. He made his pitch for war BECAUSE Bush claimed it was the only way. WOMD were in Saddam Hussein's factory. What was NOT known was at that point - was who funded Saddam Hussein's factory....It was determined that CIA was funding him and Saddam Hussein was a CIA operative. Additionally, GW Bush paid terrorists, aka "mercenaries", to dismantle the factory and take the WOMD to Syria. Colin Powell knew they took them to Syria but wasn't allowed to send people there. Yet those WOMD were found in 2014, and placed on a multiton container. Colin Powell was a council to Obama. Obama gave it no air time but Collin Powell was given just a few minutes to report it on PBS as a newsbreak. I had that channel on and was so ecstatic. They used a multiton container and sealed the WOMD, placed it on a retired ship in an undsclosed part of the ocean.

I thank him for serving but he sure as hell lost me saying he would do it all over again! Americans murdered Americans on September 11. Colin Powell stayed in government when he could have made much more money in the business sector - he knew or at least had a good idea who The Enemy Within were! We didn't go to war until AFTER he left office as Secretary of State. Bush got rid of him using a campaign of media lies about failed intelligence! There was no failed Intelligence before the Gulf War - we were actually fighting CIA, though. Bush paid people to take down the WOMD factory and transport tons of nuclear weapons to Syria - even using them on citizens and blaming President Assad! Those WOMD were finally located in 2014 at the occupied ISIS HQ in Syria - (outlaws camping out in Syria!) And all WOMD were placed in a multiton container and sealed and sunk on a retired Navy ship in an undsclosed part of the ocean - hopefully not near La Palma. That Island of LaPalma was possibly the island that ALL passenger planes from September 11 landed and probably took on a new face, dumping all gased passengers in industrial garbage containers! They were seen by some people who have spoken out.
